Pauline J. Sheldon is Professor Emerita, University of Hawai’i, School of Travel Industry Management where she also served as Dean. She has published widely in the areas of tourism demand modelling, information technology and tourism, and tourism education. Her seven books on various aspects of tourism include “Wellness Tourism: Mind, Body, Spirit, Place” and “Social Entrepreneurship in Tourism: Practices, Principles and Philosophies”. Her current research includes regenerative and transformative tourism which overlap with her lifelong fascination with the awakening of human consciousness. She has worked with numerous international organizations such as UNWTO and the World Bank, was the first woman President of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism, and co-founded the Tourism Education Futures Initiative (TEFI) and TRINET (Tourism Research Information Network connecting 4,000+ tourism researchers worldwide). She currently serves on the Advisory Board of Hawaiʻi Green Growth.
