Dr. Jerry Agrusa also known as “Dr. A” is a Professor of Travel Industry Management in the Shidler College of Business at University of Hawaii. Dr. Agrusa recently return to the TIM School at UH from the University of North Texas where he was the Chair/ Professor of the Hotel and Tourism Management Program.
Professor Agrusa is well regarded for his expertise in research and teaching in the area of hospitality and tourism management. He was awarded Na Po’e Pa’ahana “Hospitality Educator of the Year” from the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association (HLTA) for teaching and inspiring future generations of visitor leaders. In addition, he earned Fulbright Senior Specialist grant. The prestigious Fulbright program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
Dr. A was awarded the title of “Tourism Expert” for the Asia Productivity Organization (APO), an intergovernmental international organization whose mission is to contribute to the socioeconomic development in the Asia-Pacific region. Through this organization Dr. Agrusa has been consulted by a number of governments, university and industry tourism leaders from Taiwan, China, Korea, Mongolia and numerous other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Dr. Agusa has published over 100 research articles and conference papers and presented his research and consulted in more than 25 different countries. His research has been cited in numerous newspapers and magazines including The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Forbes.
