Alana Kobayashi Pakkala serves as Kobayashi Group’s Executive Vice President and Managing Partner. With over two decades of Hawai‘i real estate development and investment experience, Alana’s work for Kobayashi Group has resulted in a track record of successfully planning, leading and seeing to completion multiple real estate development projects spanning a variety of industries and development sectors including residential affordable and luxury, hospitality, retail, non-profit and government.
Alana continues her family’s commitment to build for all of Hawaii’s communities. She leads Kobayashi Group’s work on affordable housing and contributes to policy groups aimed at addressing Hawaii’s housing crisis. Kobayashi Group has built or is actively working on adding 1,249 affordable housing units on Oʻahu since 2022, 606 long-term, income-restricted rental units for those earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income, and 643 price restricted for sale units for individuals and families earning 80% to 140% of the Area Median Income. Together, these projects surpass Kobayashi Group’s pledge to build one affordable home for every market-rate unit it develops.
Alana leads all development efforts with high attention to detail driven by the same family values of integrity, tenacity, humility and kindness. She is a graduate of Punahou School and Georgetown University, and is active in numerous community organizations.
